Animals

Many insects, animals, and plants live in all the layers of the Rainforest. Most scientists believe that over half the world's species of animals live in the Rainforest. Epiphytes are fascinating because they are plants that grow on other plants such as trees and bushes. Sloths are also interesting animals because they spend most of their lives upside down.

Each layer of the Rainforest has a variety of animals and plants. Mostly birds live in the emergent layer because they are the only ones that can reach that height. Birds also live in the canopy along with monkeys, lizards, and the most tasty of all… insects! The understory includes animals like snakes, anteaters, and… more insects! Small amounts of plants live on the forest floor, and we frogs live there with a few insects too!
